Alert: 10/16 Game Location Changed

I just received word today that the 10/16 game against Kenwood II will be played at Sibley Field E. Please note this change on your calendars. The calendar posted within this website will also reflect that change.

Announcement: Practice Monday at 6pm

The location of the practice is Pearl Park, Field B1. We will practice from 6-7pm. Girls bring water to drink, shin guards, cleats, etc. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I want to make sure the girls hear more of me coaching during a practice and less during a game.

You Haven't Played Soccer Until You've Played in the Rain

Today should be a fun day for soccer, despite the weather. Our game is scheduled for 10:40am however, most of our team arrived early at the last game and that 15 extra minutes of practice really helped us a lot. If you are able and willing to arrive by 10:15, it would be helpful.

If You're Inclined to Talk About Soccer or Ear Rings
At this stage, our girls are just starting to understand this game. Here are a few ideas that could find there way into your conversations.
1. Sometimes the best pass to make is to your teammate who is behind you.
2. We pass to the outside part of the field because that's where there is open space.
3. When you get the ball, look up, dribble if you can, and pass to the space or open teammates.
4. Every year millions of pair of ear rings are lost on the soccer field when the referee says, "you can't wear earrings," and then they get lost in the hand-off to mom and dad. Girls, leave your earrings at home.

Pershing Kicks 3, Pearl Charge 2

This was a fantastic game tonight. It was exciting, well played, and best of all, we improved a lot.

We missed those of you who couldn't make it. There were a few times we were just inches away from a goal, so I hope every girl on our team feels really proud of how we played.

A Good Question About Rain
These soccer games are almost never canceled due to rain. For it to be canceled, there usually must be thunder/lightening. If it rains for a long time prior to the game there is a possibility of a cancelation, but the best thing to do to know for sure is to check this website or call the Pearl Park info line.

Pershing Location

Tonight we play at Pershing Park on Field 4, which is located 1 block south of Minneapolis Southwest High School, on the corner of 48th St. and Chowen Ave. S.

Snack Schedule

Folks, I'm just disorganized to make the snack sign up a nightmare. So, in that spirit, I'm going to just assign snacks to parents for certain games. If you can't help with the night you've been assigned, then let me know and we'll work on a substitute for that night.

Don't forget picture day is tomorrow!!!!!

Goal Keepers?
Parents, this website is for the girls too, so bring them to the computer to see pics of our games! And, as a former goal keeper who was pretty good in the day, I'm wondering if any of the girls are expressing an interest in playing this position? If so, I'd like to spend 10-15 minutes at a practice in the very near future going over a few things to help them play the position and stay safe. Run this by your kids and see what they say.
