It's Not Over Till I Decide to Stop Writing

Tonight, the sad feeling at the end of the game was not about losing the game; it was sadness over no longer having an excuse to meet to play soccer together. So a few more words:

1. We had a great time together and it showed. I thoroughly enjoyed coaching these young ladies.
2. For those who want to continue to play soccer, I will add a few more posts in the next week or two to describe some opportunities to play on the Minneapolis United Club team in the future, if your child wants to play in a more competitive league.
3. For those who want an excuse to get together to kick the ball around and have some fun, we can always find places to do that, both indoors or outdoors. So, start thinking that a "play date" could be as fun playing soccer with a group of girls than whatever else it is that girls do on their play dates.

Finally, I just want to say that it was so fun to see how each player improved over the season. It feels great to see them do something on the field that they are proud of, to feel proud of themselves.

Thank you for all your encouragement both of me and the girls. I appreciated your support and enthusiasm. Take care and look out for more info in the future.

Jim

A Time for All Things

There is a Time and a Season For All Things Under the Sun. . .

. . . a time for peace, a time for war,
. . .a time for work, a time for rest
. . . a time for soccer . . . and a time for pizza.

The bad news is that we don't always know the times for these other things, but the good news is,
we know exactly the time for pizza and the next game:

The last game is 10/16 @ 7pm. Sibley Field E. Check the link out in the margin for field locations.

The Pearl Charge Pizza Party is Wednesday 10/18 from 6-7:30pm at the Barnhill home (4709 17th Ave. S).

What Can You Do to Help for the Party
Well, I made the unwise offer to pay for the girl's pizza if I opened my mouth from the sidelines during today's game. So, I'll provide 3 Large pizzas for the team. I'm a goalkeeper and goalkeepers can't keep their mouth's shut, so I was destined for this pizza donation.

That said, we could use a 2-3 contributors each for: a 4th large pizza, a variety of drinks, some kind of dessert. No one has used this feature yet this season, but if you click on the "comment section" below to report what you'll bring, everyone else will be able to see what you've said you'd bring. Consider this option. Otherwise, Email Me at this Link.

Saturday's Hertz Car Rental Players of the Game Award: Today, congratulations go to Maggie Waters and Allie Bean for the following reasons. Today, the ball game came to Maggie's area a few times and when it did she stayed nice and calm. Instead of just kicking it as hard as she could, she got control of the ball and began dribbling up field, looking for a pass. Allie had two picture perfect throw-ins right down the line that were so perfect, they were like art-work. Great job girls

Saturday Game Info

Sat 10/14 our game is against Keewaydin-Morris VS Pearl Charge at Pearl Field B1 12:30pm
Parents, please note that our final game is Monday, a mere 2 days after this Saturday's game. I do hope we can get all of our girls out for the final Monday game.

Thank you Snowbirds!
Tonight we had 7 girls brave the cold weather and get in a good practice. Thanks for coming out!

Practice to Be Held Despite Minnesota Weather

Indeed it is cold outside and snow has fallen. However, we will practice tonight with warm clothes on and enjoy it.
We all have to take responsibility for choosing to live in a cold-weather climate. Personally, I think we ought to move the team to North Carolina, however, with only 2-3 games left you might think that drastic.

Anyone want to bring hot cocoa for a 'leaving the field snack'?

Women's Soccer Invitation! Mark Your Calendar 10/22

There is nothing that can excite and teach young players better than seeing role models playing the sport of soccer. With that in mind, I'd like to invite the whole team to watch the Gopher Women's Soccer team play Michigan State on Sunday 10/22 at 1pm.

Tickets are $5.00 for youth and $8.00 for parent chaperones. If I can get a number in advance, we can take groups of girls and only 2-4 vehicles depending on the numbers. Parent chaperones are of course welcome and appreciated. Please let me know for sure if you're planning to send your daughter or if you are willing to provide transportation to a few girls.
